Revision Assignment 3

Research a theory and present it on your blog.

Theories could include:

• Modernity
• Post modernism
• post Structuralism
• third Wave Feminism
• freud
• Globalisation
• Interpretive Theory
• Post Colonial Theory
• Binary Opposition
• Revisionist Theory
• etc

Check with me regarding the sutabilty of your chosen theory. Try to research something that relates to or conflicts with your director and their body of work.

Research Assignment 2

Complete a one page research assignment of a chosen decade that your director was most influential.
You will need to include:

• A lead up to the decade (ie what came before)
• Political situation (include wars, treaties, governments and presidents, political policies)
• Social situation (social movements like youth/feminist movement, protests, popular pastimes and events, etc)
• A rundown of the arts (Music, Film, Architecture, Art movements/artists, TV etc)
• Technological innovations (space race, communications, innovations in film/music/personal technology, etc.)
• Outcomes of the decade (how did it affect the following decades to come, what is the legacy of this decade.

You should include your references.

Now the Work Begins!
Complete a ONE page blog entry/biography of your chosen director. You will need to include:

• ONE picture of your director Vital statistivs (DOB, Place of birth, education, parents, alive/dead)
• Filmography of work List their THREE best/most influential films and explain why
• Trademarks and recurring motifs
• Frequently used actors, genres and narratives Reputation and critical reviews
• Finally, write 2-3 sentences that explain why you have chosen this director and list three films you will study.

You should list your references and include these at the bottom of your blog entry.
